The Significance of the Seventh-day Sabbath

In the last crisis every man will have to choose between obeying the law of God and obeying man-made laws that conflict with it. This contest will eventually come to a focus in a universal demand to honor Sunday, a day for which there is no sanction in the Word of God, instead of the seventh-day Sabbath. As we have seen, God claims the seventh day of the week as His. He calls it " my Holy day," and summons all who choose to be loyal to Him to " Call the Sabbath a delight" and to honor it, not going...[their] own ways, or seeking.......[their] own pleasure, or talking idly " during its sacred hours. Christ declared Himself to be. "Lord" of the Sabbath day and said that it had been made for man's benefit. Furthermore, the Sabbath is " a sign" between God and His people, an evidence that Christ's redeeming grace has sanctified them.

Walking on earth as a man among men, the Savior set an example for all men by observing the seventh day of the week as the Sabbath, and instructed His disciples to pray that they would not be tempted to desecrate it, even under extreme personal danger, in years to come. More involved in the fourth command of the Decalogue than most people realize.

In the first place, the same God who directed men to keep the Sabbath day holy also specified the seventh day of the week as the Sabbath. The Sabbath-ness and the Seventh-ness of the day are inseparable. "The Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it, " and commanded men to " remember" it and to "keep it holy " because in six days He " made heaven and earth, the sea, and that is in them, and rested the seventh day." (My past criticisms of the Sabbath: Everton)

I remembered it clearly as if it was yesterday, every Saturday afternoon while playing football or basketball, these Sabbath keepers use to stopped me, and interrogated me about not been in church to give special thanks to Jesus for keeping me alive through out the week.

My motto to them was "I 'II be there next week," but deep down I knew they would never see my face in their church, because for (1) it was too boring and quiet whenever I walked pass the church, (2) I loved my Sunday church because I could do whatever I liked when church was over, (3) Saturday was my favorite day of the weekend, because I could do all the things I couldn't get do in the week because of school work.

They even visited my family to teach us about the Sabbath day, and when they were finished I would simply say " I 'II be there next week" But these Sabbath keepers were persistent in getting me to visit their church, which they eventually got me to do.

"So, I attended for few weeks, and I was introduced to Bible class one Saturday afternoon by the church most knowledgeable Bible scholar Claris Brown or Sister Brown for short. Their I read the Bible for myself and the Holy spirit guided my thoughts to the TRUTH, I was not inspired by traditions, nor by parents, or by Sabbath keepers, but by the most high GOD; King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
